Our Roots
Making nutritious and tasty food and beverages has been Vitasoy’s heritage since its establishment in 1940. In a time of food shortages, malnutrition and soaring commodity prices, Dr. K. S. Lo created the first ready-to-drink soy milk to offer the people of Hong Kong an affordable and healthy alternative to dairy milk.
Since then, we’ve built on his principles to plant goodness in all that we do.
Our History
1940
Launch of VITASOY soy milk drink in Hong Kong, China.
1975
The first company in Hong Kong, China to introduce the aseptic packaging technology and launch paper-packaged beverages.
1979
Launch of the world’s first ready-to-drink VITA lemon tea.
1982
Founding of Vitasoy USA Inc. in San Francisco, USA to drive the growth of soy products in the US market.
1987
Opening of the Tuen Mun headquarter and manufacturing building in Hong Kong, China.
1994
Listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
1998
Opening of Shanghai production plant in China.
2001
Opening of manufacturing plant in Australia.
2008
Acquisition of a tofu manufacturing company – Unicurd Food in Singapore.
2011
Opening of Foshan manufacturing plant in China.
2016
Opening of Wuhan production plant in China.
2017
Setting up of a joint-venture with a Philippine food and beverage company – Universal Robina Corporation.
2019
Founding of Vitasoy North America Inc. in Toronto, Canada to drive the continued growth of imported plant-based beverage.
2020
Opening of the Group’s Chinese headquarters in Nansha, China.
2021
Opening of Dongguan manufacturing facility in China.
